Dan Hittleman

In my images, I aim to create feelings of place and time so observers sensually enter the scenes. To do that I try in as many images as I can to generate interest through “rhythms and echoes,” that is, by repeated and recurring patterns and by a sense of centripetal and centrifugal motions, bringing the observer’s eye out to an image’s edge and then back to the center. Often images containing strong patterns become playful eye puzzles. When composing images that include animals, birds or flowers, I create both portraits and objects within their environment. My images are realistic and pictorial; yet, some images are manipulated with photo editing software, thereby taking photography into a mixed media art form.
